Architectural houses

Architecture by Stutchbury & Pape. Builder Tony Lake Constructions. Baker’s Joinery supplied all internal joinery for this home as well as several items of furniture. The home is featured in “Monument” magazine October/November 2003 and “InDesign” magazine February 2004.

I spent several days at this site installing the joinery, I doubt I will ever work on a such a picturesque and peaceful site again. Nestled up in the back of Kangaroo Valley I found it hard to concentrate at the work in hand and found myself in a relaxed state at the end of the day, which is very rare after installing joinery all day.

Thanks to Tony and the clients.

Bay House - Sydney. NSW.

This is one of our founding projects that allowed us to develop our top hung system using sailing hardware to carry very large Australian Hardwood doors.

Architecture by Stutchbury & Pape, this project won the Robin Boyd Award for residential buildings in 2003.

Baker’s Joinery supplied all the external and internal and much of the furniture for this amazing home. This is still amongst the finest joinery manufactured by Bakers Joinery to this day. The home was featured in “Architecture Australia” in the November/December 2003 edition.

As seen in the photo some of the doors made for this project were made from solid Tallowwood & White Mahogany planks 230mm wide and even had small concealed panels within the large doors for easy access.

6.0m & 5.0m wide Blue Gum laminated curved trusses are one of the main features of the ceiling structure, branching out form the central stone wall, reducing in sectional size as it reaches the outer structure of the home. There are very few areas where you can stand in this incredible home and not see something we have manufactured.

A very special thanks to the clients.

This beautiful home featured all different types of external joinery constructed from our hand selected Australian Blackbutt from our collegue Species Australia.

The first floor joinery were protected by some innovatively designed timber slatted screens. Within these screens we also had insect mesh to the inside of the sashes making ongoing maintenance a real issue with the inside face of the timber slats. We constructed a small frame around the timber slats making them totally removable for many years of easily accessible maintenance.

This project also utilised the traditional double hung pulley and weights system. With the sashes being make from Australian Blackbutt and 6mm toughned glass these sashes weighed in at around 55kg each. The resulting sashes were effortless to open and close.

Bourne + Blue Architecture in assoc. with Stutchbury & Pape were the Architects on this award winning home in Newcastle. Danny Smith Professional Building Services was the builder. The project was completed in 2003. This stunning home was excavated into the hill that was subdivided by the Anglican Church.
